LuminArté Fine Art Gallery is hosting a lecture and book signing by
Bob Lively of his new novel, “The Thin Place” on Saturday, March 19th, from 7 to 10pm.
Bob Lively was ordained by the Presbyterian Church USA in 1973 and returned to Dallas to serve on the pastoral staff of the First Presbyterian Church. In his first year of service to this downtown congregation, he collaborated with his more seasoned colleagues in founding the Stewpot. Later he and other community leaders would also found additional ministries including the Genesis Battered Women’s Shelter and the Austin Street Homeless Shelter.
In 1985 he moved to Austin to serve in a variety of pastoral positions. It was during this period, he discovered his voice as a writer, and for 23 years he wrote a column in the Austin American-Statesman and published nine books of non-fiction. Nine years ago he survived a massive stroke that left him partially paralyzed. As part of his recovery, he challenged himself to write his first novel; and in the summer of 2015, Treaty Oak Publishers of Austin, published this work under the title of The Thin Place.
